It’s been a short while since Sweetman Sanitation officially started running Marshall routes, and there’s progress worth sharing. For us, this location isn’t just about adding a shop. It’s about making waste and recycling services in Marshall and the surrounding area more local, more efficient, and more affordable.
Smarter Solutions, Local Impact
One of the first projects we’re tackling is making Marshall a one-stop shop. From weekly pickup to big cleanouts, our goal is simple: if you need to get rid of something, you should have a reliable, local place to bring it.
Take mattresses, for example. In Redwood County, we’ve been able to cut disposal costs from $50 down to $14, while keeping over a hundred mattresses out of the landfill. Now, we’re working on bringing that same savings and environmental benefit to Marshall.
Partnering for the Future
We’re also partnering with Lyon County to improve how drop sites are managed. Instead of hauling small loads back to Redwood Falls, waste will soon be compacted and transported right from Marshall. That means fewer trips, bigger hauls, and less fuel burned, a win for the environment and for taxpayers.
What This Means for You
These are just the first steps. In the months ahead, we’re committed to building services in Marshall and the surrounding areas that make life easier for families, businesses, and the community as a whole. From regular routes to special cleanup events, we want Lyon, Lincoln, Redwood, Renville and eastern Yellow Medicine county residents to know: if you’ve got something to toss, we’ve got you covered.
